International Legal English (ILE)

is the definitive course for those needing to work in the international legal community as well as serving as preparation for the Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC).

 

Target Participants
The course is aimed at lawyers and law students working or intending to work in the international legal community.

 

Language Level
Participants should already have upper-intermediate or advanced language skills (Common European Framework Level B2 minimum).

For current Cambridge Institut students: C-Level or Business Vantage and above*.

 

Course Content
This course, comprising of two blocks, teaches lawyers and law students how to use English in a commercial law environment focusing on a variety of legal topics including contracts, company formation, debtor-creditor relationships and intellectual property rights. Using authentic texts to present and practise legal language, the course develops the four key skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The course provides the necessary exam preparation for the Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) which can be taken at the end of Block II (May 2010).
