Cambridge Institut

More about us

Over 60 Years of Passion for the English Language and Culture

The Cambridge Institut was founded in 1961 in Munich as Germany's first specialized English language institute and an examination center for the University of Cambridge. This family-run business, now in its second generation, is a well-established institution not only in the Munich region but also far beyond.

The Cambridge Institut began with 100 candidates, and today it conducts around 6,000 exams every year. Cambridge exams are globally recognized and highly regarded by educational institutions and companies as proof of qualified language skills.

The institute keeps up with the times when it comes to the types of exams offered. While traditional written and oral tests will continue, online technologies are playing an increasingly significant role in examinations. Therefore, the Cambridge Institut Munich also provides computer-based tests. These language exams can be taken either in a computer format at the institute or conveniently in candidates' own homes or at their workplaces.

"Durch die Globalisierung der Bildungsmärkte und das wachsende Angebot von Fernstudiengängen werden unabhängige Prüfstellen immer wichtiger", erklärt Philip Moore, Gründer des Cambridge Instituts.

The Cambridge Institut is an Open Examination Centre, meaning you can take your English language exams with us independently of course participation. However, many choose to attend one of our English courses before their language examination.

Our course program includes General English, Business English, exam preparation, and one-to-one lessons. Courses are offered both in-person and online. With our Blended Learning courses, we also provide a course format that combines live lessons with self-paced learning through a state-of-the-art digital learning platform. Despite changes, the philosophy of the Cambridge Institut remains the same: the close connection between language and culture. Therefore, in addition to subject-specific English courses, the institute offers special courses in English Literature and lectures on understanding cultural topics.

The facilities on Residenzstraße provide ideal conditions for exam candidates and course participants, alongside the excellent location in Munich's cultural center. All rooms are soundproof, air-conditioned, and accessible. Furthermore, each room is equipped with the technical infrastructure for computer-based exams and courses.

Whether online or in person, we prioritize expertise and high-quality standards.
