B2 First

The FCE is a qualification at a higher intermediate level. The certificate demonstrates that you can understand the essential content of complex texts, express your opinion, present arguments, and that you are capable of discussing the pros and cons of different views in writing and verbally.

Furthermore, English skills at the B2 First level enable you to write texts of various kinds. By passing the B2 First exam, you qualify for work and life in an English-speaking environment.

Cambridge Institute Munich offers the B2 First exam in both computer-based (CB) and paper-based (PB) formats. The two formats only differ in how the exams are taken. The content and level of difficulty of the tasks are identical.

Multiple times per year. Written and Speaking on the same day. Except for high number of registrations, speaking possibly on the day before.

Exam Preparation

Exam format

The B2 First exam format consists of the following sections:

Reading & Use of English (75 minutes)
Writing (80 minutes)
Listening (approximately 40 minutes)
Speaking (14 minutes)

Preparation course
Cambridge Institute Munich offers a 6-week course to prepare and practice the content of the B2 First exam. Additionally, all day intensive courses and evening courses can be completed with the B2 First certificate as an option.

Study materials
For self-study, the Self Study Pack of the Cambridge English B2 First book with solutions and audio content is recommended. These study materials are available in major bookstores and online.
