Since 2003, the Cambridge Institut has been offering the B1 Preliminary (PET) and C1 Advanced (CAE) exams once a year to all Bavarian secondary school pupils, including those at Realschulen, Gymnasien, and Fach- and Berufsoberschulen, as part of the so-called Bavarian School Project.
The exams are usually conducted in the months of March and May and take place at selected venue schools throughout Bavaria, enabling over 5.000 pupils per year to obtain a globally recognized Cambridge certificate. Supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and many dedicated teachers in Bavaria, the Cambridge Institut administers the organisation of these language exams, acting as a liaison between Cambridge University, the beforementioned Ministry, as well as the participating schools and their candidates.
Since 2024, some of the participating schools have been running the Cambridge examinations in digital format. Realschule Ebersberg is one of the schools that offers the B1 certification once a year as part of the Bavarian school project. In both the case study as well as the clip that was shot at their premises, you can learn more about the implementation, the benefits and challenges. The case study Realschule Ebersberg provides a good insight into how the Cambridge Institut, the Bavarian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, the schools and teachers work together to ensure that exam candidates have a pleasant and smooth exam day. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and commitment.
