C1 Advanced Certificate

The C1 Advanced certificate is recognized worldwide by employers and universities as evidence of advanced English proficiency. It corresponds to level C1 (CEFR).

The C1 Advanced certificate demonstrates that you have the necessary English skills for a demanding academic and professional environment.

It provides proof that you have sufficient language proficiency to conduct complex research tasks, communicate effectively at a professional level, and stand out from the crowd.

Preparing for the C1 Advanced certificate helps develop English skills needed for studying or working in English-speaking countries. However, it is also accepted for university applications in Germany and Austria.

The Cambridge Institut Munich offers the exam as a computer-based (CB) format.

Exam Preparation

Exam format

The C1 Advanced exam format consists of the following sections:

  • Reading & Use of English (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Writing (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Listening (approximately 40 minutes)
  • Speaking (15 minutes per candidate pair)

Preparation Course
Cambridge Institut Munich offers a 6-week preparation course for the C1 Advanced exam as well as private training. Additionally, all day-intensive courses, as well as evening courses, can be optionally completed with the C1 Advanced English certificate.

For self-study preparation, the Self Study Pack of the Cambridge English Advanced 3 book is suitable, which includes solutions and audio content. The learning materials are available in all major bookstores and online.
